WHAT ARE HASSELBACK POTATOES

HASSELBACK potatoes are a type of baked potato characterized by their unique fan-shaped appearance. They are prepared by slicing a potato into thin slices at regular intervals, almost to the base, without cutting all the way through. This technique creates a series of thin, connected slices that crisp up in the oven while the inside remains soft and moist.

HASSELBACK POTATOES  ORIGINATED  from Sweden, where they were first served at the Hasselbacken restaurant in Stockholm in the 1950s, they are often seasoned with butter, oil, salt, pepper and herbs and can be topped with ingredients such as cheese, bread, garlic or bacon. added flavor. and texture. They make a wonderful and delicious side dish, perfect for any occasion!

INGREDIENTS NEEDED:

  • Potatoes
  • Cheddar
  • Sausage or sucuk
  • Parmesan
  • Olive oil

TIPS FOR THE BEST POTATOES

  1. Use the right potatoes: Choose starchy potatoes like Russet for crispier edges, or Yukon Gold for a creamier texture.
  2. Get even slices: Place chopsticks or wooden spoons on both sides of the potatoes to avoid cutting through them. This keeps the slices intact while creating the characteristic “fan” effect.
  3. Brush with oil: Drizzle generously with olive oil or melted butter, making sure it penetrates between the slices to obtain crispy, golden edges.
