BIG MAC SAUCE

A Big Mac wouldn’t be the same without its famous Big Mac sauce. Mac! This unmistakable shade of pink is truly iconic, and you might be surprised at how easy it is to recreate. In fact, many burger sauces share similar ingredients. Here’s what you need:

  • mayonnaise
  • ketchup
  • mustard
  • pickle sauce
  • white vinegar
  • sugar
  • onion powder
  • red pepper
  • garlic powder

Just mix all the ingredients together, and you have a thick, delicious sauce with little drops of flavor. It’s a delicious mix of sweetness and sourness. It should be noted that the authentic recipe calls for sweet potato, but I used regular potato, so I added sugar. If you like it a little sweet, there’s no need to add sugar!

ASSEMBLING THE TACOS

If you’re new to making tacos using this technique, it may seem a little unconventional at first. However, trust the process and you’ll be fine. You’ll be surprised! Here’s what you’ll need for this step:

  • 80/20 Ground beef
  • Mini flour tortillas for tacos
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Take a small handful of raw ground beef, about a quarter cup, and spread it evenly on a tortilla, covering the entire surface. Aim for a thin layer, as Big Mac buns are usually quite thin. Then, add a little salt and black pepper and continue this process until you have used all the ground beef.

COOKING THE TACOS

Now it’s time to bring these tacos to life! Rest assured, even though the meat is in a tortilla, it is cooked perfectly.

Choose your preferred cooking surface, whether it’s a skillet, a pan, or a griddle. Place the taco meat, skin side down, in a preheated skillet over medium heat and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Turn upside down, reduce heat, and add a slice of American cheese on top. Cover to let the cheese melt. It will melt, and the bottom tortilla will become crispy. Once cooked, remove from the pan and top with lettuce, pickles, white onion, and a generous amount of Big Mac sauce. It’s time to enjoy this treat!

Ingredients

BIG MAC SAUCE

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 tbsp pickle relish drained
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp white vinegar

FOR ASSEMBLY

  • 12 mini flour tortillas
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil split in half
  • 12 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 white onion diced
  • Dill pickle chips
  • Shredded iceberg lettuce

Instructions

MAKE THE BIG MAC SAUCE

  • In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, relish, ketchup, mustard, sugar, vinegar, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder. Set aside.

PREPARE THE TACOS

  • In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, relish, ketchup, mustard, sugar, vinegar, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder. Set aside.

COOK THE TACOS

  • Heat a skillet or pan over medium-high heat, and add a small drizzle of vegetable oil.
  • Carefully place two to three tacos with the meat side down. It should take roughly 2-3 minutes for the patty to develop a delightful golden crust.
Now, gently flip them over, reduce the heat, and gently set a slice of cheddar cheese atop each patty.
  • Cover the tacos and allow them to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. This time ensures the cheese melts to creamy perfection and the tortilla transforms into a golden, crispy delight. Once done, remove these delectable creations from the heat and repeat the process for the remaining tacos.

THE FINAL ASSEMBLY

  • To the taco, add lettuce, onion, pickles, and big mac sauce on top.
  • Enjoy warm!
