VIRAL GIGI HADID PASTA WITH BURRATA

Ready to whip up your own version of the viral Gigi Hadid Pasta with burrata ? Get excited—it’s a breeze to make, but your taste buds will think you’ve been cooking up a storm!

WHY THIS RECIPE IS SO VIRAL

The Gigi Hadid Pasta, originally known as Spicy Vodka Pasta, has its roots in Italy—it’s a classic! Picture this: onions and garlic sautéed to perfection, followed by tomato paste caramelized in olive oil, and then transformed into a lusciously smooth sauce with a splash of heavy cream. But wait, there’s more! Finish it off with a generous helping of butter, heaps of freshly grated parmesan, and a touch of pasta water for that perfect consistency. Sprinkle in some red pepper flakes for a kick, and top it all off with fragrant oregano for a burst of freshness. It’s sheer perfection and has quickly become my go-to pasta dish!

HOW TO MAKE GIGI HADID PASTA

HERE’S WHAT YOU WILL NEED FOR THE SAUCE:

  • Olive oil
  • Garlic: Opt for freshly minced garlic for the best taste.
  • Tomato Paste: This concentrated paste boasts a bold flavor and thick texture. Cooking it in oil helps to caramelize and mellow out its acidity.
  • Heavy cream: Choose either heavy cream or heavy whipping cream—it’s your call! Red pepper flakes: Adjust the amount based on your spice preference.
  • Dried oregano: Fresh basil is also a fantastic option, adding vibrancy to the sauce. Salt and black pepper to taste: Start with a pinch of salt, considering the saltiness of the parmesan and pasta water. Adjust as needed after adding the parmesan and pasta water.
  • Parmesan: Grate a wedge of parmesan cheese for superior flavor and better melting.
  • Pasta water: Remember to reserve at least 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.
  • Garnishes: Sprinkle with Burrata cheese, red pepper flakes, grated parmesan, or chopped basil for an extra burst of flavor and a beautiful presentation.
  1. Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook it according to the package instructions. Before draining, remember to set aside at least 1/2 cup of pasta water for later use.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, heat the olive oil.
  1. Add the minced garlic and tomato paste, and cook for approximately 4 to 5 minutes until the tomato paste deepens in color from bright red to reddish brown, removing its acidity in the process.
  1. Next, pour in the heavy cream, stirring until well combined, and let it simmer for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  1. Now, incorporate the red pepper flakes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to your taste, and give it a good mix.
  1. Add the grated parmesan, butter, and 1/2 a cup of pasta water, stirring until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy. Adjust the consistency by adding more pasta water if desired, though 1/2 a cup usually does the trick for me.
  1. Once the sauce reaches your desired consistency, add the cooked pasta to the saucepan, tossing until evenly coated. For an extra touch, sprinkle with chili flakes and burrata cheese, if desired.
